Have you been wanting to do a boudoir session, but you hesitate because you’re not sure if you’re ready for one or you worry how your photos will turn out?
Today I’m sharing the 3 KEY questions that’ll help you determine if a boudoir photoshoot is right for you, so you can avoid feeling disappointed in your experience and your images.

Question #1: Why do you want to do a boudoir photoshoot?
This question is all about understanding your motivations for doing a photoshoot and what you want to get out of it. I focus on working with women who want to do a boudoir photoshoot for themselves, for reasons like: healing and improving their relationship with their body, elevating their self-esteem and confidence, reconnecting with themselves, reminding themselves that they are beautiful and strong and celebrating themselves.
I encourage you to rethink why you want to do a boudoir photoshoot if you want to use it to:
- Get approval from your husband or partner, so you can “make” them see that you are beautiful
- Get yourself out of feeling depressed or self-loathing
- Nitpick, critique and point out all the things you don’t like about yourself and your body
From my experience when women do a photoshoot for these reasons it leads them to feeling disappointed like they’ve wasted their money and often leaves them feeling worse about themselves.
The right reason to do a boudoir photoshoot is to celebrate you, your life and your relationships, from a place of self-love and acceptance, regardless of what your body looks like. When you do a boudoir photoshoot with the intention of honoring yourself and your body, that is when boudoir becomes a magical and powerful experience that changes the way you see and feel about yourself and your body.
Question #2: What is your biggest fear about doing a boudoir photoshoot?
I can tell you from personal experience that the number one fear women have, and I had this fear myself before my first photoshoot and it’s this: not liking what you’ll see in your photos. If you’re trying to feel beautiful and elevate your self-esteem the last thing you need is photos of yourself that you don’t like.
In order to ensure you love your images, you must invest in quality photography with a skilled photographer, who has experience working with women who look like you, not only women who look like models. This kind of experience and quality comes with a price tag, so be honest with yourself about what you wish to accomplish with these images, do your research and pick a photographer you trust and feel confident in.
Question #3: Do you see this as an investment in yourself or as an expense?
While boudoir photoshoots come with a price tag, I invite you to think about this experience as an investment. When you invest in elevating your self-esteem and confidence, healing the relationship you have with your body and celebrate who you are, that is the BEST kind of investment you can ever make.
You are worth every penny when it comes to investing in something to empower you to become a confident woman who feels worthy, beautiful and good enough. That is priceless.
